Happy 100th Birthday Lucille Ball

On August 6, 1911 a star was born. Lucille Desiree Ball was an actress, comedian, model, and radio actress.

On April 26, 1989 an amazing star passed away at the age 77. Much too young!

I have been a fan of Lucy for a long long time. I remember when I was younger and the first TV I had in my room was my moms old, small, black and white TV. The only channel that would come in on that turn knob was the channel "I Love Lucy" came on. I was hook for life!

For some reason Lucy reminded me so much of my Ma. In black and white pictures they looked a like to me. Except my Ma had snow white hair and Lucy had fire engine red. The weird thing is, my Ma was not a huge fan.

I've seen every single rerun of "I Love Lucy" a 100 times each. I have an attic full of collectibles, movies, pictures, calendars, nik naks, etc... Brad and I had a 3 bed room home when we first moved in together and one of the rooms I decorated in black and white with all of my Lucy things. Then when we down sized, so I decorated my laundry room with her pictures. Sadly they are boxed up in the attic. One day I hope to have a house where I can have a room to display all my favorite Lucy collectibles.

The Hallmark channel is playing reruns all day. You will find me laying in my recliner (waiting on brother to arrive) watching "I Love Lucy". As I type this post the episode of her and Ethel stealing John Wayne's footprints is on. I love Hollywood episodes!!!

(this picture was taken 4 week before she died)

Odd Pregnancy Cravings

This pregnancy has been totally different the second time around. I don't remember having all these odd cravings I'm having when I was pregnant with Kynlie. When I say odd, I mean I'm not just having cravings for food or drinks, but smells. I like the smell of things more than usually. *****PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THAT THE WRONG WAY, I'M NOT SNIFFING THINGS TO GET HIGH HAHAHA*****

For example: (yes I went around the house and took pictures of stuff HA)

I ran out of my Mary Kay face wash and wasn't up to going on line and reordering, so I went to walmart to get my back up Neutrogena face wash. I decided while I was there to look at other washs and I came across Noxzema. I remember my mom using that when I was younger. I opened it and had to have it. Something about the smell of it was so nice HA! I bought the wash and the facile make-up wipes. I like the smell of the Noxzema so much, I wash my face twice a day no matter what. I've always washed it only in the shower and not in the morning and if I didn't have a shower right before bed, I was too lazy to wash my make up off. (I know, how dare me)I will tell you though, my face has looked a lot better since I've switched. I have to give thanks to Noxzema's SMELL!! HA

Next odd Smells I'm "craving"
Cleaning products! I like the smell of a clean house, who doesn't. But lately the smell of Lysol bathroom cleaner smells so good to me. It has a minty smell. My toilet bowl should be very clean!! That and who doesn't like the smell of Pine sol??? I wish they would make that in a spay or wipe and not just a mopping liquid. I don't have the energy to mop every day to get that smell HA!!

Do y'all think I weird yet???

Tooth paste! Yes I love the way my tooth paste taste. Of course I have to or I wouldn't use the brand I use, but there is a weird craving I have for it and I swear I'm brushing my teeth longer because of it. Also my mouth wash...same craving.

Clean face, teeth, and bathroom!! Let's hope these cravings don't stop after the baby is here HAHAHA!!

Now to the "normal" pregnancy cravings

I cannot get enough ice!!! I eat ice all day long. Sometimes 4 large cups a day if I can. Everywhere I go eat, I always make sure to refill my drink with just ice all the way to the top or ask for a cup of ice to go. I hear it's a sign of low iron. My blood test did come back saying I was low on iron, so I guess it's true.

I have ate more Oreo cookies this pregnancy than I think I have in my life. I've never been a big cookie eater, I like them but not very often. But I'll have a handful of Oreo's at least every other day. Sometimes with milk, sometimes alone.

Same with ice cream. I've ate a lot of ice cream lately. It also could be because of the 100+++ degree weather we are having in Texas. If you follow me on Facebook, I'm sure you've noticed I check in at Braums pretty often. I do not have a specific flavor I like better. I change it up every time I go.

Has anyone else ever had "Odd Cravings" like this??? Or am I the only weird one out here???

Well I'm off to eat cookies, wash my face, brush my teeth and clean my bathroom!!

Kynlie's Birth Story

That's right, Kynlie's. I can not remember if I ever did a post on her birth story and I did not feel like going back and reading to see. So I thought before her brother gets here, I'd document hers, because I know I'm going to document his (so I hope) and it's only fair they both have one. Right?

Kynile was due on August 28, 2008. As most of you reading (mom) knows she did not come then. I was over 40 weeks pregnant with her when I went to my last doctors apt on a Wednesday. Dr. F finally decided to go ahead and set an induction date for that Friday. So all day Thursday I prepared the house and my self for her arrival. I had been cramping and spotting all that day too. Just not feeling myself.

Bradley and I finally decided to go to bed sometime late that night, knowing we had to be at the hospital to check in at 6am. Needless to say I couldn't fall asleep with all the nervousness, anxiety, HAPPINESS, I was feeling. But Bradley had no problems sleeping, he snored all night long HA.

At around 2am I starting cramping really bad and could not get comfortable in bed, so I set up and watched TV. Well it starting happening more. I had a feeling it was contractions, although I had know idea what contracts felt like. This was my first pregnancy. So I started timing them. I don't remember how far apart they were at that time but they were happening more. I finally decided about around 4am to hop in the shower and start getting ready to head to the hospital and check in early. (the hospital was only about 5 minutes down the highway)

I got out of the shower and my contraction were getting worse and it was getting harder to do things. I woke up Bradley and told me we needed to go ahead and get going. I did my hair (somewhat) and my make-up and Bradley helped me put my clothes on and we headed out the door.

I think we got to the hospital about 5am. Checked in and called our parents to meet us there. Thankfully we all live in the same town, so they were there pretty fast. They had already all prepared to be off, because I was suppose to be induced that day.

When we got checked in they wheeled me into a "room" that didn't hold very many people, because we had to wait on a room to open. Apparently there were a lot of babies being born that week. Anyways, the nurse checked me and I was already dilated to a 5!! I was begging for pain meds, but I had to wait till I got in my room before I could get my epidural. They gave me something in my IV to help a little.

I finally was put in my room and the epidural was given to me. Thank God!! From that time till about 10am is kinda foggy, don't recall everything. At around 10 or 11 the nurse checked me again and I was still at a 5. My water hadn't broke on it's own so they ended up braking it for me and then I think sometime after that is when I dilated to an 8!!! WooHoo, she's on her way....

NO, she wasn't!! The day went on, visitors came in and out. I threw up a few times. I tried sleeping. The nurse checked me a number of times and I was stuck at an 8 all afternoon. I remember my doctor coming in at one point saying if I didn't dilate fully she was going to schedule the OR for a c-section. I wasn't too thrilled to hear that.

Well right in the middle of me watching Oprah the nurses came in and checked me and I was still sitting at an 8. They had me start pushing anyways to see if that would help. So I pushed. I threw up again. Then I pushed some more. I would take a break every now and then, but then kept right on pushing during every contraction.

I remember one point Bradley was up at my head helping me and my mom had one leg and a nurse had another leg and Bradley saying "someone switch places with me so I can watch" I know he's my husband but I was a little embarrassed HA!

Pushing at a 8 did help. I ended up dilating all the way and Kynlie was on her way out.

At 5:43 pm Kynlie June Kubin made her way into the world. Weighing 8lb 5oz 20in long. She had dark brown hair with Chinese looking eyes (like her momma) and a round little nose. She was everything I had hope for. Perfect in every way!!!

It was the most amazing experience I've ever had!!! I loved every single minute of my labor and delivery.

(it says 8 3.7 but she was 8 5)
They cleaned her and I up and then handed her right to me and I have not stopped loving on her ever since and I don't plan on it!!!

Transverse Baby

I have been looking on line at the meaning of a Transverse Babies, which I should not do, because I did not like some of the pictures I saw. I read it's common for this to happen in the second pregnancy. I hadn't really heard of it before. I've heard of breeched babies, but not transverse. Basically it means the baby is laying sideways. Believe me I can tell, he's making me very uncomfortable. I pray he turns, but being this late in my pregnancy I think it's doubtful.

(LOVE this face)

I'm not too thrilled about having a c-section. But there is no other way. He can't come out the "normal" way. I'm not looking forward to the recovery. I'm not looking forward to not being able to pick Kynlie up and snuggle with her for a while. BUT I'll do what ever I have to do to get this sweet boy here safe.

(I've got my girl hooked on eating ice. Here she is digging in and eatin it up)

It has been so hot here in Texas. Today it's 109 but feels more like 115+. This heat is making me very tired feelings. I'm lacking in the energy department as it is, but this heat makes it worse. It's taking everything we have to cool our house down. We have tall ceilings in out living room and it just seem to never cool off in there. I try to keep our windows blinds and curtains closed to keep the heat out.

(My sweet sweet girl)

I have my 38 week apt tomorrow in the morning. I'm anxious to go. I'm ready to see if I've dilated more and if he's moved any. Also I just love going to see him on the sono machine and his heart beating!! It's amazing.

(she was showing her daddy how to rope)

Kynlie has been talking to my stomach a lot lately. She's always talking to him, but for some reason she's been really talking to him. Telling him she loves him and and kissing all over my stomach. She'll even tell him to come out sometimes LOL. I think she is going to be a great big sister. I know she's going to be very helpful. She's been loving going in his room and "helping" me put things away and making it perfect for him. I hope this love she has for him now last forever!!
She's such a sweet, loving, wild girl!!!

(she adores her Pawpaw)

On another note. I'm so ready for football season! I love the summer time, but this is my second time to be pregnant in the Texas heat so I'm ready for fall weather, football, and pumpkins!! We are getting season tickets to our home town football team, the Ennis Lions. My niece Bailee is cheering on varsity this year and I can't wait to see her and take Kynlie to enjoy the games. I know it's going to bring back great memories for me when I was a Ennis Lion cheerleader! I'm excited!! I'm ready to watch the Cowboys and the Aggies on TV too!! I love football season!!!! But for now we are enjoying the Summer time and the Texas Rangers!!
